I've never had my lock&lock boxes leak, and they're just the right size. I lucked out and found silicone cupcake liners at the dollar store near my house: 6 for $1 (CAD) Woo! But I'm having some major trouble finding sauce containers. I use an old film canister sometimes but I'm pretty sure it's not even close to food safe. Thanks to this article, I have a couple new things to look for: candy sugar in little containers, and pill boxes. If worst comes to worse I'll try and find some takeout sushi with the little fishies. My friend find it thier "duty" to "help" me finish my lunch! They are exclusively Hello Kitty, and a little on the small side, but a.) the decals rub off fairly easily, b.) grabbing a protein bar or apple in addition to the box never hurt anyone, c.) they're a freaking dollar. There are two varieties as far as I could see -- a two-tier version that all snaps together (a little loosely, so make sure you have something to wrap it in) and a single box with a MOVABLE DIVIDER. I purchased a two-tier kind tonight on my way home from work, and I begin the test runs tomorrow. I am just getting into bento, and while I will admit I was able (at the time) to afford a lot of the cutesy stuff, I am quite a bit less able to afford a lot of the cutesy stuff now. But I was able to get the box with a bag, 2 sets of chopsticks, and the matching fork and knife as a set....I did pay more than I would normally, but I love the Nightmare Before Christmas and had to have the bento box as soon as I saw it. It is 580ml, so a little smaller than recommended, but it will be perfect as I am trying to diet/eat healthier anyway. Anyway, back to the task at hand....this is well written and very informative. The food suggestions are phenomenal.
